OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS & COMMUNITY RELATIONS WSSC Honored with Workplace Excellence AwardFor the Third Consecutive Year, WSSC is Named One of the “Best Places to Work” in the Greater Washington, DC Area
LAUREL, MD (June 14, 2007) -- The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) is once again being praised for its exceptional work environment. WSSC announced today that it is receiving the 2007 Workplace Excellence Award from the Alliance for Workplace Excellence. This is the third year in a row that WSSC has been given the prestigious honor. The Workplace Excellence Award recognizes visionary employers that are paving the way to a workplace where men and women are able to experience professional fulfillment, success and personal wellness not only at work, but also at home and within the community. “WSSC is a team of more than 1,400 outstanding employees. This award honors, once again, the dedication and hard work of each and every employee,” said WSSC General Manager Andrew Brunhart. The 2007 Workplace Excellence recipients represent over one million employees from small, medium and large private, nonprofit and public sectors. WSSC is one of 59 employers in the Greater Washington, DC area who will be receiving the Workplace Excellence Award during a ceremony on June 14th at the North Bethesda Marriott Hotel and Convention Center. Businesses being honored with the Workplace Excellence Award are required to complete a comprehensive and rigorous assessment process led by an Independent Review Panel. The panel consists of professors, Ph. D. professionals and Ph. D. students of business, industrial and organizational psychology and Human Resources. Recipients of the Workplace Excellence Award demonstrate an exemplary commitment in the following areas:
The Alliance for Workplace Excellence is based in Montgomery County, Maryland. Its mission is to position workplace excellence as a competitive advantage in the public, private and nonprofit business community by building and recognizing Excellent Places to Work. It is funded by Montgomery County, as well as corporate sponsors. ### WSSC is among the 10 largest water and wastewater utilities in the nation, serving nearly 1.8 million customers in Prince George’s and Montgomery counties. We operate and maintain seven water and wastewater plants, over 5,300 miles of fresh water pipeline and over 5,200 miles of sewer pipeline. In our 89-year history we have never had a drinking water quality violation. |
